China's Import and Export of Household Paper and Hygiene Products, Q1 2024

According to customs statistics, China's import and export of household paper and hygiene products in the first quarter of 2024 is analyzed as follows.

In the first quarter of 2024, the total import volume of household paper was 1.11 million tons, compared with the same period last year, an increase of 0.27 million tons, the impact on the domestic market is small; imports are still dominated by raw paper 9, accounting for 87.03% of imports.

In the first quarter of 2024, household paper exports starred at 313,500 tons and the export value of 619 million U.S. dollars, both of which showed double-digit growth compared with the same period of last year, in which the export volume increased by 44.26% year-on-year, and the export value9 increased by 11.06% year-on-year. Exports are still dominated by finished products, accounting for 68.2% of total exports. Compared with the first quarter of 2023, the export volume of raw paper was smaller, only 9.97 million tons, but its increase was larger, up 84.02% year-on-year.

In the first quarter of 2024, the import volume and import value of absorbent sanitary products still continued the downward trend, the total import volume was only 5011.94t, and a substantial decrease of 49.69% year-on-year, the total import value of 941,400 U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 48.96%.

In the first quarter of 2024, the total export volume of absorbent sanitary products was 348.1 thousand tons, and the export value was 968 million dollars, both of which maintained growth, and the export volume of all kinds of absorbent sanitary products had different degrees of growth, but the average price of export9 decreased. The export products are still dominated by baby diapers, accounting for 40.57% of the total exports, with an export volume of 141.2 million tons, an increase of 17.72% over the same period.

In the first quarter of 2024, the import volume and import value of wet wipes products continued the downward trend. The import value was about 35.326 million dollars, down 17.96% from the same period last year, and the import volume was 5510.59t, down 32.37% year-on-year. Among them, the import volume of cleaning wipes9 (customs code 34011990) decreased by 74.38%, which is the main factor leading to the overall decline in the import volume of wet wipes products. Compared with exports, imports are very small, and domestic production capacity and categories of wet wipes have been able to meet market demand.

exportation
In the first quarter of 2024, the export volume of wet wipes products was 19.10 million tons, compared with the same period in 2023, a substantial increase of 58.63%, the average price of exported wet wipes than the same period in 2023 decreased by 35.34%. The export volume of cleaning wipes (customs code 34011990) was 150.01 million tons, accounting for 78.60% of the total export volume, and its export volume and export value increased especially significantly, up 70.01% and 25.68% respectively.
